Coach Tom Fahey could be called the ultimate sports nut. He has coached and/or participated in the following organized sports during and after high school and college:
- Soccer
- Baseball
- Softball
- Wrestling
- Basketball
- Weight lifting
- Golf
- Distance running
Tom has several AAU Power-lifting records and won the National Athletic Strength Association (NASA) Drug Free National Power-lifting Title at the age of 37, setting both American and World NASA records in his weight and age classes. After retiring from weight lifting and in search of a new challenge, Tom ran his first marathon at the age of 40. The next year he completed three marathons in 90 days. At the Chicago Marathon Tom ran a 3:18 to qualify for Boston. Unfortunately, Tom missed the Boston race because of a severe ankle sprain playing in an adult indoor soccer league. Tom is a Level 7 Continuing Member National Youth Sports Coaches Association and has his United States Federation D, E, F, and G coaches licenses.
Coach Fahey has coached over 1200 youth games in outdoor soccer, indoor soccer, futsal, and basketball. In that time, Tom has never received a red or yellow card in soccer or a technical foul in basketball. With a total focus on teaching fundamentals and the positive aspects of competition before winning, his teams have still achieved a win-loss record of almost 90%. During the last decade he has approached coaching as a teaching opportunity generating volumes of material for his players, parents, and assistant coaches. Coach Fahey has used materials such as player evaluations, newsletters, and study packages to develop a very successful youth soccer program. The purpose of his soccer page is to share this material and his techniques to educate and promote the positive aspects of youth soccer.
